Today's Reading: The Call to Endurance
Scripture: "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:12-13
Reflection: In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus did not merely predict the signs of the times; He warned us of the spiritual toll those events would take on humanity. The "increase of wickedness" is not just a geopolitical or societal issue—it is a spiritual contagion that threatens to cool the fervent love of believers. As we observe the moral decay around us, the natural human reaction is to become cynical, hardened, or fearful.
However, the call for the faithful remnant is endurance. Endurance does not mean passive resignation; it means actively maintaining our love for God and our neighbors, even when the world is hostile to both. It means that our preparedness efforts must be driven by wisdom and charity, not by a selfish survivalist mentality that abandons the vulnerable. To "stand firm to the end" is to hold fast to the truth of the Gospel, refusing to compromise with the spirit of the age, and trusting entirely in the sovereignty of Christ.
Prayer: Lord, as the days grow darker, fan the flame of Your love within my heart. Do not let the wickedness of this world extinguish my compassion or my faith. Grant me the endurance to stand firm, the wisdom to prepare prudently, and the courage to be a light in the darkness. Amen.
